Casey James rose to national attention and became a household name overnight as a contestant on American Idol. Using his fierce instrumental skills, emotional tenor and musical talent, he landed high among the finalists, 3rd to be exact. After over a decade of playing shows as a local musician in the DFW area of Texas, James suddenly had opportunities he had only dreamed of. The success he experienced during the show brought him a recording contract with a major country label. He took the offer, although the tight creative limitations on commercial country overlapped only partially with the music at the center of his soul. James made the opportunity work. He landed hits with “Let’s Don’t Call It A Night” and “Crying on A Suitcase” – however, the three-minute time frames and limits on instrumental playing did not allow him to showcase his artistic vision. Five years and four radio singles later, James left his major label deal with hopes of being able to make music without limitations.
Raised right here in the picturesque mountains of Red River, Amanda Kate Ferris was destined for the gypsy road life, having moved more than thirty-eight times by the time she turned 16. Her mother, Kathy Wright, believed that life should be lived on the open road as she graced the stage alongside luminaries like Bob Hope and Dean Martin in the "Dean Martin Golddiggers.” From bar stools to church pews, Ferris and her mother performed wherever they were given the opportunity. She was singing as early as two years old and developed her own voice in the church. Ferris added songwriting to her repertoire at age 14, looking again to follow in her mother’s footsteps as a full-time musician and artist. During her mother’s long sets at Honky Tonks between California, New Mexico, and Texas, she fell in love with the music of The Judds, Trisha Yearwood, and Brooks & Dunn, all of which heavily influenced her current sound.
Chris Arellano’s deeply personal Americana weaves together the Norteno music of his Northern New Mexico upbringing with alternative country and blues influences for a signature style that he calls “Nuevo Americana” fused with song and story, Spanish and English, his transcendent lyrics move listeners with emotion and passion.
